and the Oscar goes to… my favourites from Florence !

16. January 2015 — 2 Comments

What a Fair – thousands of well dressed people in one of the most beautiful cities in the world – The Pitti Immagine Uomo in January 2015.

Numerous brands presented their latest ideas and wishes how men should be dressed in Winter 2015/16. For sure there were a lot of exaggerations but as well a lot of inspirational looks that we will see on the streets and in the offices, sooner or later.

I remember well the short scene in the famous movie The devil wears Prada when Meryl Streep explained the long way from the runways via the department stores to the final bins in the Thrift Shops. Maybe we have seen some of these top shots at the fair – we will know later 🙂

In general I have the feeling that there is no real trend anymore. You can practically wear whatever you like, as long as it is nicely put together. Maybe we could say that there is a strong tendency to pimp the look with tons of accessories, but also that’s not really new.

The pants were short, a good chance for all the socks-suppliers. The jackets become more and more casual, something I will write on in further articles. The fabrics are rougher and heavier, not in weight, but in volume. That implies a different construction in terms of fullness and reinforcement.

What impressed me much was the growing tendency of photo-blogging. At the central place there was a huge crowd of photographers and at the same time lots of well-dressed men/women who were obviously waiting to get asked for a picture. It looked a bit absurd but also quite entertaining.

I will give some more examples in further articles.

For now – watch these: the top shots that came to my attention:

the best suit

the best jacket

the Trousers:

the tightest

the shortest

the fanciest

the best Overcoats

the best ties : for sure the one and only “Jupe by Jackie” with her hand-embroidered ties and bow-ties, unique and very chic !

stay tuned – there’s more to come from Store-Checks in Florence and so much to explain about the product itself 🙂

Thank you for sharing. The last two coats are stunning!

Right, it was rather a festival than a fair, but very inspirational. From a technical perspective it will be very challenging to do these designs in the right shape and fit. Its much easier to produce something stiff and well reinforced than these designs.
